Free Leitner 5-Box Schedule — Printable PDF

Free: Leitner 5-Box Schedule

The classic 5-box spaced repetition schedule with a 28-day interval grid. Print it, stick it to your box, and stop guessing which intervals to follow.

The 5-box system is the original setup Sebastian Leitner described — and it’s the sweet spot for most learners. Longer intervals mean fewer review sessions for well-known cards, and a clear graduation path from Box 1 to Box 5.

The 5-Box Intervals

  • Box 1: Daily
  • Box 2: Every 2 days
  • Box 3: Every 4 days
  • Box 4: Every 8 days
  • Box 5: Every 16 days (learned / archive)

The schedule PDF includes a 28-day calendar grid showing which boxes are due on each day, so you never have to calculate intervals manually.

When to Switch from 3 to 5 Boxes

Move to a 5-box system when your 3-box system is running smoothly and Box 3 is filling up. Splitting Box 3 into Boxes 3 and 4 gives well-known cards more breathing room and reduces daily review load over time. See the guide on 3 vs 5 vs 7 boxes for more detail.
